I have a cluster established which consist of (3) 3548 and (1) 3524. When trying to add another switch (3548) to the cluster I get an error message stating member unreachable. Cluster manager can see the switch and list it's MAC and the type of switch. I have them cabled together using GBICs and have never had a problem adding switches before. Also have trouble trying to console directly to switch. Any answer would be greatly appreciated.

If you are in trouble even connecting to the switch console (and your terminal works OK with another switch) then connect to the console, reboot the switch (switch it off/on) and watch the console output and LEDs - it might show some HW problem.
Sometimes (power problem, e.g.) switches just get "frozen" and are OK after reboot.
I would alse check the IOS version and upgrade to the newest one.

Thanks for the info Milan. I was able to console to the switch by starting a term with another switch then plugging into the console of the "trouble" switch which let me configure ip, host name etc. I saved config, rebooted switch, but when I start up Cluster manager it sees the switch with the new host name (so it has to be communicating ) but when I click to add to the cluster it still says member unreachable. Any other ideas? When I added the new switch I put it in the middle of the other switches unstead of the bottom, that shouldn't matter should it, as they are all GBIC together?
