Help with removing etherchannel 6506 switch

Just joined a company as a secondary admin that is now responsible for cisco equipment at a Co/lo. We are moving from one Co/Lo to another over a 2 month period. The first phase is to remove the secondary switch that was setup with Etherchannel ... My plan in the future is to remove the Etherchannel from config and setup L3 routing with tagging( our topology doesen't require the benefits of etherchannel).

So this is what i outline for my 1 phase project

A. Add a second module to the primary switch.

c. configure new module identically like secondary switch.

d. replug the servers (devices ) into the new module.

e.remove Secondary switch

unplug fiber

disable etherchannel

set port channel mod #/port# mode off command

clear the arp

f. eventually will bring back secondary when we finally move out of old Co/lo.

Maybe i am going the going that wrong way with this so please let me know if any other procedures are required

If my configs are required such as show start, show port, show channel traffic, let me know.

Thanks

Removing EtherChannel Interfaces is a simple procedure.I think your procedure seems good, but take the back up of the configs.

Removing an interface from the EtherChannel requires the following steps:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1 Remove the network address from the interface.

Step 2 Remove the Ethernet interface(s) assigned to the EtherChannel.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
