How to change authentication prompt and banner in telnet?

Does any body know how to change the authentication prompt and banner in telnet? the aaa authentication prompt command does not work in telnet.

the banner can be changed using "banner login ^your message^"

Thanks for your reply. And is there any way to just change the login banner for telnet, but not affect the console login? And can I also change the username and password prompt for telnet?

aaa authentication banner ^ asdasdfasdf ^

aaa authentication username-prompt

aaa authentication password-prompt

That should help...on the switch I checked (2924) you had to do "aaa new-model" to get the options above. Now sure what you are using, but may need that depending how old the IOS.

So that seems strange. I used my 2600 router with 12.3 IOS but fail to get the result in telnet. However, the commands work in console login.
