How to Improve performance on an LMS remote console

I tried to use remote console (Pentium 3 with 256 MB RAM) but I found it unacceptably slow.

Every operation takes few MINUTES!

I checked that processor utilisation is about 5-10%

and there is still 50MB free physical memory.

LMS server is DL340 with Pentium 4 and 1GB RAM.

It is dedicated to LMS and no other appliaction runs on it.

Ignac.

Hi,

Have you got the correct java plugin running on your client?

If this is the case you need plugin version 1.3.1, the following links explain how to install it etc..

I've found the solution: name resolution!

CiscoWorks server has to resolve client's name.

So you can enter client's IP and hostname in

C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts on the CW server

or include PTR record for client's IP in DNS used by CW server.

(IMO this "feature" kills gains from web/java interface - ability to connect to CiscoWorks from

any place and any client)
