How to use MRTG monitor sub-interface (Vlan)?

Could anyone tell me how ot use MRTG monitor router's sub-interface (Vlan traffic)? When I use cfgmaker to create cfg file, it only generates items for main interfaces. Is there any option needs be turned on for cfgmaker. I know it can be done through manually editing OID value, but I am not able to find OID value for this.

SNMP support for fastethernet VLAN subinterfaces was introduced in IOS 12.1(2.2)PI (see CSCdk25367). That would be >= 12.1(3)T for the most of you, or the 12.2 series..

This may be of some help. While I havent done it my self. I know you can load the referemce to the mib file in to the beginning of the Mrtg script and reference the interfaces by name instead of oid. It talkes about this in the latest documentation. One of my techs has tried it with some sucess.

it's actually quite easy. Reference the sub-intfcs by either name or it's subinterface number. Here is the syntax:

Target[X.X.X.X_1_1]: #1/1:public@X.X.X.X:

Target[X.X.X.X_1_2]: #1/2:public@X.X.X.X:

and so on.... (1/3, 1/4, or 1/4.1, etc)this is really the only way to refernce interfaces like switch ports, etc.

Dear yatao,

I searched for the same answer. I've heard something about the IOS of the networkelement, this could make these things within MRTG possible or not. It's not MRTG but the SNMP trap information.

Some people are looking for possibillities, when i know more i let you know.
