IPC errors on a catalyst 6500 running ios

we have a number of catalyst 6509s running IOS 12.1.8a[e3] that are logging the following error:

%IPC-SP-5-LIMIT: 682 messages pending for the port 8.10000

Hardware is sup1a/msfc2/6408/6416/6248/6224

Other switches with similar config appear OK.

Any help appreciated

We have run into this as well. This is due to bug in 12.1.8a(e3). Description: CSCdv40422 (-Externally found moderate defect: Awaiting Info (I)). This is also similar to CSCdv30314 - Externally found catastrophic defect: Verified (V). You should open up case with TAC and get recommendation for new code. We were told to go to E6 but that code has bugs as well!
