I am studying L2TP. I think that if I use dot1q tunnel, I need not to tunnel CDP and STP, I think that because the data in the dot1q is tunnel. Is that right? If I am wrong, please correct me. Thank You!
An 802.1Q tunnel does not transport STP for tunneled VLANs (only the native VLAN STP is used). CDP, PAgP, VTP, and GVRP are not tunneled either. Here is a link with some helpful information on Dot1q tunneling:
