I would like to be able to determine what User is connected to what Switch port, using the ARP table. Is there anyway to do this using a tool or Scripts (other than ciscoworks). Currently I have to go to our Routers ARP table to get the Users Mac address and the the CAM table of our core switch to determine what Switch port the Users access switch is connected to and then find the access switch using CDP. I heard this process can be automated using a script or some tool, any help would be highly appreciated.

There is a freeware Windows product that does this correlation automatically. Go to :
and have a look at CatTools.

SolarWinds Engineer Version 5.5 does a great job of switch port mapping and other neat stuff.....
