Logging hostname / DNS name upon loss of OSPF ADJ

Hi,

Does anybody know if it is possible to configure something to make a router logg the actual hostname / DNS name instead of the ip address when an ospf or bgp adjacency goes either up or down?

I know under ospf is is possible to view your neighbor tables with the dns name by configuring ip ospf name-lookup. However I haven´t found a way to get the syslogs to use the actual hostname. If anybody knows how to get this working or if it is at all possible the information would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Josh Halley

Hello Josh,

you have to manually configure it on the host file of the local ciscoworks / syslog server. This will show the syslog outputs in the means of hostnames instead of ip addresses.

try this and let us know if it works...
