Managing Cluster of 3550's with SNMP

I have a cluster of 4 Catalyst 3550s and 1 3508G. I haven't had any decent networking management software until just recently so I never needed to enable SNMP on them.

My base question is - "Does each switch need a unique SNMP community name? Does it matter if they are members of the same cluster?".

The reason I ask is my network tools work great when I tested with the Public and Private names. I changed the public and private names to something else and made it the same on ALL switches. I can only use my tools one one switch at a time (the tools are made to handle multiple devices at once btw).

What am I missing?

Thanks

It depends on the type of NMS app that you have. For example, CW2K requires that clustered switches have individual ip add and snmp strings on them, in order to manage them. Have you tried using the Cluster Management Suite (CMS) Software: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps646/products_data_sheet09186a00800913ce.html ?
