Monitoring Bandwidth usage on a 1601

I need to be able to monitor the bandwidth usage on our 1601. I installed the Fast Step app and it keeps dropping the connection. It looks like that needs to be turned on all the time, which is fine, but I'm not resetting the connection every 2 minutes.

Is this the right way or is there some other freeware tool available?

You can try using MRTG (http://www.mrtg.org). It's a freeware.

How can I narrow down which users on my network are using that bandwidth. Can I get a report on the switch interfaces?

You can try with ip accounting...

If you just use MRTG, look at contrib directory...you can find WHODO.
