We are faced with a problem on our Cisco OSR Gateway router. The GE-WAN interfaces on this routers are highly utilized so we have to use 64 bit V2c counters to get the correct in and out counters. Our MRTG config has not changed in a while and we are sure that we are polling using version 2 by adding the :::::2 option to our target settings.
After upgrading to 12.1(19)E1 version we are seeing extreme instability on our results. The results are not correct or sometimes they are choppy. Much like when we were trying to poll the 32bit counters. We can not determine though if this is an issue with MRTG or is it an issue with the OSR.
Is anyone currently polling an OSR GE-WAN interface using MRTG and V2 counters?

Did you check for the caveats in the Cisco IOS 12.1(19)E1 before upgrading? It could be some bug. But I suspect the issue with the MRTG.

Actually it turned out to be a bug infact. We have done some measurements using our ISPs MRTG stats and basic SNMPgets and realized the counters were rolling over at 32 bits instead of 64. Cisco already had a bug open on the issue and fix will come out soon. Hopefully ;)

That's it. Waiting for the fix.
