We had a multicast test on our current wan links the test multicast worked flawlessly. The test was setup to use the following information:
Systemtest:
IP - 239.192.0.40
Port - 11111
and I state again this worked perfect.
SOOOOOooooo
Time to go live Poof! zilch, nada nothin, gone...all was lost?? the go live setting were the following..
Event(Live from Encoder):
IP - 239.192.0.41
Port - 28470
we could not get the multicast to come up. after investigating I saw that the statement "ip pim sparse-mode" was not on the interface where the broadcast was coming from. Once I put it on it worked. So the questions is why did the test work and the go-live did not. NOW! here's the kicker I had him place the test back up and removed the "ip pim sparse-mode" command and you got it....it worked? I tried to get the replay of the live and it failed until I put the IP ... statement back on...
Now if the IP... statement was the fix then PLEASE tell me how in the H3LL did the test ever work I am not an multicast expert but it's not rocket science either...well maybe it is but...
Anyway can you please explain this in the "dummy for multicast" version....
Thanks,
