NAC availability on 2950 switches?

Any word on when the 2950's are going to become Network Admission Control capable?

Also, is NAC based on the same general principle as 802.1x? Seems like it is from everything I've read.

Are there any docs that discuss the specific protocols in use?

I was told by Cisco local representative yesterday that cheap switches like 2950s are NOT in NAC roadmap AT ALL.

So who knows?
