NAT Details

Hi,

I have one inside interfaece and one outside interface. When I enabled nat in the outside interface as "Ip nat outside" and gave the global command as "ip nat inside source list natlist interface Loopback0 overload" .But I didn't mention in the Inside interfaece as "Ip nat inside.

In this case wot will happen ? Whether it will automatically take the inside interface as "ip nat inside" or it will not do any translation ?

If so please send me the document details..

Regards,

Kiruba

Hi Kiruba,

The router will not do NAT even if your traffic coming into the router falls within the configured nat source list. U would still need to enable "ip nat inside" on one of the interface that is to be ur inside interface, i.e interface e0/0, in order to trigger the translation.

Pls refer to the link below for a more detailed guideline on ip nat configuration and usage:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1835/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800ca75b.html

Refer to the section "Configuring Network Address Translation"

Let me know if it helps.

Cheers.

Kenny
