Hi,
I have seen other postings similar to my problem but with no solution. Thus I wanted to ask again to see if any solution has been found. I am trying to push out a config change to all my equipment and everytime whether I try 1 router or all of them, I get the same error:
Device was successfully downloaded, sync archive failed.
===>Update result: Partially Successful
PGM_NM=configuration Archive:6775:TYPE=unassigned message type::Failed to get running config. for device:x.x.x.x
Any ideas? I really need this to work.
Thanks,
Paula

Is this RME 3.3?. How many devices are in this NetConfig job that you're pushing the changes to?

No, it is 3.4 with IDU 4.0 patch applied. At first I tried one group of 36 devices. When that didn't work, then I just tried one on several different ips.

You may want to apply the RME 3.4 IDU 5.0 from CCO and then try with only one device.

I applied RME 3.4 IDU 5.0 and tried running the Netconfig job with just one device. I got the same error. What does this mean?
Sync archive failed.
Failed to get running config. for device:x.x.x.x
Any other ideas would be helpful.
Thanks.

Does the device credentials are correct in RME?

By device credentials, do you mean device attributes, ie snmp community strings, telnet and enable passwords, etc.?
If so, then yes those are correct in RME.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for your responses.

Paula,
Did you get this resolved? Can you manually archive the config's and see if that works?

Bill,
Thanks for asking. No, and it is still really bugging me. I can try to manually archive them, but what I don't understand is when I use config management to compare configs, it pulls the startup, running and archive configs with no problem. They are there, but netconfig can't seem to find it. I tried increasing the telnet timeout in case it was maybe timing out, but to no avail. Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Paula

I have tested this and I suspect its a bug within netconfig. Why?
Because I tried an Adhoc download and everything works fine. I try a normal user template to change ntp, http, and everything works fine. But the moment I try to downlaod a banner config to IOS using a user template, it FAILS. Yet banner download does work using Adhoc. Another interesing fact is that should there be an exisitng banner already configured on the router and you create a job to download a new banner using a user template, the original banner gets removed. And there's no new banner either.
So this leads me to believe the problem lies somewhere within the netconfig scripts.

I am glad to know I am not the only one. When you said it FAILS using the user template for adding a banner. Does it give the error failed to get running config? Or does it just show CLI errors as it is trying to add the banner?
Thanks,
Paula

No, it shows exactly the same errors/message you get. the one about the failure to sync blahdiblah. At the end it say CLI Output and thats all. it ends there.

Hmmm, interesting. I tried it the Adhoc way though and still got the same errors. So I am wondering if we are dealing with different issues.
Thanks for your response.
