New 2948g - 2 problems

I am setting up a new 2948g switch. It came with a screwy config preloaded and I am having some problems setting everything straight.

1. I cannot ping my PC from this switch, but I can ping the default gateway. I can ping the switch from my PC. I am probably overlooking something simple. A PC that is hooked up to the switch shows a 100mb connection, but cannot ping anything.

2. What are the different settings that could come up under "method" when I type "sh ip int br". Currently it is set at NVRAM on the same switch.

I sure I am overlooking something
