NM-8AS

We have a customer with an NM-8AS module installed in a 3640 router acting as a distribution node , this node has become unstable and on investigation we discovered that the customer has higher speed links than 128k connected to this module. We are seeing errors and packet drops on the interfaces in question. We suggested that he should upgrade to an NM4-T which will handle the bandwidth required , but I now have to give the customer some documentation relating to the NM8-AS stating that this module was designed with a limitation of 128k (Sync) per interface and the architechture is different to the NM-4T on which you can run 8Meg of a single port if the other ports are not used.

Any help with this issue would be appreciated

Jacques

Serial Interfaces which could work in synchronous and asynchronous mode (A/S) have the following limitations:

- Synchronous mode: 128 kbps

- Asynchronous mode (physical-layer async set): 115.2 kbps

Therefore, only serial interfaces which are not labled with the letters A/S are able to support 2.048 Mbps.

Hope this helps
