I have a biq question that i didn't found any answer..

Think an ARR router with area Totally stub (area x no-summary). The ABR have 1 IF-A on area 0 and 1 IF-B in area 1. There are two major cases:

1. In case of DOWN of IF-A is the OSPF process stay UP also for area 1 ?

2. In case of Lost of LSA from BB router of Area 0 (DR) is the OSPF stay UP for the router ???

Who can help me in this ?? alsa I can post the small configuration. It is very simple!!

Thanks

Bytz alex

Hello,

regarding your first question: if the interface belonging to area 0 goes down, area 1 will have no connectivity to (obviously) area 0 and other areas that might be connected to the backbone, but area 1 itself will remain active, with only intra-area routes being advertised.

Regarding your second question, when the connectivity to the DR is lost, the router does not form any adjacencies with any other routers on the segment. The OSPF process itself will remain intact on the router.

Does that make sense ?
