I am trying to have OSPF with MD5 on a fastethernet segment. Chasis type is
CS2621, IOS is c2600-is-mz.120-7.T.
Config looks something like:
...
interface FastEthernet0/1
ip ospf authentication message-digest
ip ospf message-digest-key 1 md5 0 <password>
I can see neigborship over fastethernet segment but it looks like router is NOT usign MD5 for this!!!
When doing a 'sh ip o int', I do not see something like :
....
Message digest authentication enabled
Youngest key id is 1
Is there a bug with IOS 12.0.7 ?
With IOS 12.1.13, I can see this without problem...
Thanx in advance. Mihai

It looks like the MD5 is NOT used, as already written...
Dec 4 14:05:15 UTC: OSPF: Rcv hello from 10.255.0.61 area 0 from FastEthernet0/1 10.193.53.3
Dec 4 14:05:15 UTC: OSPF: End of hello processing
My feeling is that this is a bug. I have deleted the lines, re-inserted, still nothing...

Could it be that 12.0.7 does NOT support MD5 authentication on a segment ONLY as more recent IOS do??? I have NOT configured it on the entire area...

You need to configure authentication in that area, using
