ospf metric question

hi,

i have a 6505 router with a gigabitconnection to a mainframe.

i configured this gig-int with "ip ospf cost 5" .

on this 6505 i have other router connected.

does ospf calculate the metrics (costs) of all interfaces together ?

in other words:

does a router behind the 6505 calculate the cost in the following way:

cost to reach the 6505 PLUS cost from 6505 to mainframe (5)

thanks

I assume your mainframe is running OSPF. If yes, the 6505 will consider the mainframe as a neighbor and should report the mainframe's linkstates to the router behind the 6505. So it will calculate the total cost as cost to reach 6505 + cost from 6505 to the mainframe = total cost to reach mainframe.

Hope that helps
