hi
I have two ospf routers connected via a ppp hence no DR or BDR. However on one end i changed the router id by adding a loopback address. After i made this change and reset the ospf process i still did not see the router id change. Also was unsuccessful by shut and no shut the ospf interfaces. Is rebooting the router the only way
thanks

Hello,
adding the router ID with the ´router-id´ command under the OSPF process and the resetting the OSPF process with the ´clear ip ospf process´ command should do the trick, and that is what you did...it might be a bug, which IOS version are you using ?

Georg

An old trick that always works is to remove the ospf process (no router ospf xx), exit the config mode and then re-read the startup config by executing a "config mem" command.
Hope this helps,

Try adding the router-id x.x.x.x commmand to the ospf config. Then do a clear ip ospf process xxx and if that doesn't work, a reload should definetly do it.
