port monitoring on 2948GL3

Greetings!

Would anyone know how I might configure an interface on the 2948 so I might capture traffic with a protocol analyzer? I was told I could span ports but I cannot find a way to do this. I tried using RMON but I think I need an SNMP agent to use this feature.

Any suggestions are appreciated,

A 2948G-L3, which is an IOS switch, has only routed ports and does not have the ability to perform Layer 2 switching and can therefore not SPAN ports.

A 2948G, which is a CatOS switch, is a layer 2 switch and it does have SPAN functionality. To configure a port on a 2948G as a SPAN port to connect to an analyzer, check the following link:

L3 switch does not support SPAN. I have had customers connect a hub inbetweeen and capture sniffer traces when i had to.
