Are there potential power or performance issues when powering up US purchased gear in Japan? In particular 3560 switch and WLC5508 WAP controller?  If so what is (are) the remedies?

According to Google, Japan runs 100 volts and either 50 or 60 hz frequency (depending where you are in Japan) - the US runs 120 volts and 60 hz frequency.

The page I found says only 'sensitive equipment" may not work, or may even be damaged by the differences. I postulate that a 3560 switch and WAP controller would qualify as "sensitive".

Your only way to be 100% sure you didn't blow up your kit would be to buy a transformer (not a converter) to do the voltage/frequency change.

Cheers.
