Is it possible to build a Private VLAN structure with Catalyst 2950 switches on the edge and Catalyst 3550 in the core?

These switches don't support PVLANs. They support Protected Port functionality, which can be considered a chopped-down version of PVLANs: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps646/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00801cdf52.html#1029319
