We have a Gig interface on 6509 showing error traffic information. How to fix it except reboot the box? Thanks.
GigabitEthernet4/16 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Hardware is C6k 1000Mb 802.3, address is 0009.11f6.7c87 (bia 0009.11f6.7c87)
Description: dot1q trunk
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1000000 Kbit, DLY 10 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 87/255, rxload 2/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
Full-duplex, 1000Mb/s
input flow-control is off, output flow-control is off
Clock mode is auto
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
Last input 00:00:19, output 00:00:33, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters 00:24:07
Input queue: 0/2000/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
Queueing strategy: fifo
Output queue: 0/40 (size/max)
5 minute input rate 9217000 bits/sec, 3751 packets/sec
5 minute output rate 1726799000 bits/sec, 2672 packets/sec

Hi this port is fully utilized by looking at the output bits per second 1726799000 = 1.7 Gbps which is more than its physical capacity 1 Gbps .. You might need to create an ethernel channel to redistribute / load balance the traffic between several paralellel ports ..
I hope it helps ..please rate it if it does !!!

5 minute interval is too wide of a gap to measure port's throughput, I would recommend adjusting the interval to something like 30 secs and by doing this should give a close to true throughput.

1726799000/2672=646257bits/packet=80800bytes/packet
>>1512bytes/frame for Ethernet.
That's why I think the message is wrong.
Any idea?
Thanks
