Problems with router 2691

We have some problems with a router 2691.

Would you mind to help me please or tell me where can I read about it.

We have a rapid growth of the input errors on the interface Fast Ethernet 0/0.

Nevertheless the value of traffic is not so much, about 50 mbit/sec.

The average size of the packets is about 100 kbyte.

The value of processor cpu is not great although (20-30 %)

The command “show controllers FastEthernet 0/0” shows, that all errors are as matched above

rx_soft_overflow_err:

Number of Transmitter Hang = 0

tx_more_col_err= 0 tx_one_col_err= 0

tx_exc_collision_err= 0 tx_late_collision_err= 0

tx_underrun_err= 0 tx_error_intr= 0

rx_soft_overflow_err= 2916 rx_overflow_err= 0

And there is not another errors.

What does the parameter “rx_soft_overflow_err= 2916” means?

And, which is more important, how to solve this problem?

Did you say 50mbits?. This is quite much for a fast ethernet, (100mbits). It might be due to much traffic.

You are right. But we have repeated this experiment. The real traffic, when we can observe this phenomena is about 5 – 10 mbit/sec. We continue observe the rapid growth of input errors. The value of the traffic is not great although. (<<100mbit/sec)
