Recovering from a deadly typo when changing rommon# >confreg

I was changing the confreg settings in rommon mode on a 2610 as part of an IOS recovery procedure and instead of typing confreg 0x2102 I accidentally typed 0x2120 and reset the router. Now when the router boots all I get is stuf like... 3Ä{ÚO¼æΝœÝ¨

Anyone know how to recover from this? I can't break back into rommon mode.

Would pulling the BootROM help?

You've changed the console port rate. Normally it's 9600, but by setting a combination of the config registers, you can alter it. The 0x2120 setting you put in sets it to 19200 and changes other settings as well. You can set your terminal program to 19200 and change the config-register back. If that's not practical for some reason, you can pop the cover off the router and use the speed reset jumper, and you should reset the config-register after that too.
