I was converting CatOS to IOS, near the end as I formatted the bootflash and SLot0: I guess I forgot to copy the IOS back and reloaded.
Now I'm stuck in rommon mode and I tried everything to recover. I tried Xmodem but it keeps failing when it's completed the download.
I tried the boot image only should I be doing something else?
I tried following the artical but I can't get passed the error message.

Which Sup you have?.
Which flash did you format. Sup-bootflash: or
bootflash: i.e the flash of the router.
Which file are you doing x-modem, please paste the file name.
First check whether you are on routers rommon or supervisor's rommon. To check that please reload the sup again and if its falls directly to rommon then you are on Sup's rommon or if you get a message like " changing ownership to route processer " and then you are in rommon then u r in routers rommon.
Now recovery steps:
1 try to arrange a PCMCIA card with either Catos or IOS from ur collegue or some friend and that will do it for us.
2. If you r in sup's rommon then easist way is downloading the smallest CATOS file and doing the xmodem. For sup1 its arnd 5.3 MB and for sup 2 its arnd 7 mb.
3.If u r in MSFC's rommon then, x-modem the boot image and then tftp the main image.
4.Sometimes xmodem transfer the whole file but the sup doesnot boot with the new file automatically and you wonder that its has failed. try changing the config register to 0x2142 while u r in rommon and reload the sup.
command to change that in roomon mode is confreg 0x2142, then type sync to save it and reload.

I have the Sup2 / MSFC2 and I formatted both Slot0: and bootflash.
I try what you suggestted, So I guess since I'm always going into Rommon and there is no images I can't load the MSFC boot image from there.
I'm supprised the recovery documentation dosn't mention the register it would hav save me some time since I tried reloading it many times.
SO if I understand what your saying is I need the CATOS does this apply if I get someone to copy the IOS image to a flash PCMCIA card and boot off that?

It doesnot matter, if we can get a PCMCIA card with either CAT OS or IOS. We will be good to go in either of the case. So try to arrange that and boot of the switch from it. Try the following things when ready with the PCMCIA card :
rommon1> BOOT=
rommon2> sync
rommon3>BOOT=slot0:
rommon4>sync
rommon5>boot

To give you an Idea about the config register 0x2142, I got stuck in the same position few years back and was at the same point. I worked out for 23 hrs continously but didnt get the sup and tried each and every option. I didnt had the PCMCIA card at that time. After tried everythig and I was doing my last xmodem,I read a doc and that pointed out me to use this config register. Right after the xmodem, when my sup didnt came I used the config register without reloading the sup and it came up wonderfully.
This config value saved my Job. I have tried it few times after that and has worked for me.
