Redundant Core Configuration

I'm working with two 6500 switches both having Dual SupII and MSFC cards. The current 6500 is the core of our network and I'd like to add the secondary 6500 at this point but am still a bit unfamiliar with the technologies and practices I will need. Does anyone have examples, scenarios or best practices for redundant core switching/routing and/or the technologies involved?
