Hi,
Is there anyway to create redundant inerfaces on a single router?
Essentially, what I am trying to do is to imitate HSRP but on a single router.
Whenever you try to add a second interface that exists within the same network as an existing routed interface, the IOS will prevent it.
Can you use Bridge Groups? Or maybe something funky with secondary interfaces?
Other suggestions?

Hi,
I may have not made it clear - I am not trying to backup a WAN interface.
I am trying to set up redundant Ethernet interafaces on the same router.
Thanks

If you are trying to setup redundant ethernet interfaces, you could use etherchannel to channel them together. You would have load-balancing and redundancy.
HSRP isn't designed for what you are trying to do.
