Can MSFC be removed from WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE safely ?

Hello,
do you want to know if the MSFC is hot-swappable ? In a redundant configuration it is...
Does that answer your question ?

The story is ; to upgrade the CatOS to guard against the vulnerability announced I have to install a new version. The new version requires 128MB of DRAM. However, Cisco is recommending upgrading MSFC to MSFC2 to run with 128MB.However, MSFC2 is too expensive I can be better off just by upgrading supervisor module to 128 MB and offloading routing function into a router by defining dot1q trunk.
Now,can I remove [policy feature card and MSFC on the existing supervisor module and just run as WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE ?
thanks for your help
