Server changing IPs

I have several server that have 3 partitions.

Each partition has different IP subnet.

The servers allow me to reboot and go to any partition I want.

Can you please recommend how my switch port (7609) should be configured to dynamically support this configuration automatically with no manual intervention?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Secondary ip's under the svi may solve this.

any other ideas?

Like the other post suggested, secondary addresses is a great solution. Other than that I cant think of a another good solution. Some of the older switches used to support multi vlan configuration on a single switch port, which is not available any more in newer switches. This way even on a layer 2 switch port. you can have multiple vlans, and a layer 3 device can route the packets as long traffic from this vlan is trunked to the layer 3 device.

I still think Sec. IPs is the best solution!

PS: If your NIC supports vlans, under each OS (partition) configure a different vlan tag and configure the port on the switch to be a 802.1q trunk and this way, you will be able to communicate between the server and rest of the network! Just a thought! The MSFC will need to be configured with three vlans, for each of the networks.
