I would like to know if there is a way to set the port state to any of the available states.
Say I want to force a port to be in the Listening mode all the time.
Thanks

Hi Friend,
Thats not possile port can either stay in blocking state or fwding state you cannot hold it on listening or learning state as these 2 stages are transition stages for any port.
Yes if any port is malfunctioning it may keep looping in these stages but you will not have a control to make the port stuck into listening or learning stage.Though you can control blocking and fwding stages playing with STP values.
HTH, if yes please rate the post.
