single dhcp server on multiple vlan

i need help on how will i configure my network where i have a catalyst 2950 and a router 2800. i would like to have 2 vlans and a dhcp server connected on vlan1. my problem is how will my vlan2 be able to request an address from the dhcp server? i've red about the "ip helper-address" im not quite sure where and how will i use it.. can you help me.. please..

you put it on the vlan 2 sub interface on the router. If your dhcp server say has address 1.1.1.1 then you would do

int fast0/0.2

encapsulation dot1q 2

ip helper-address 1.1.1.1
