snmp-server chassis-id is missing from configuration in Cat 3500XL Switch

I had snmp-server chassis id configured on Catalyst 3500XL switches. I changed chassis ID and it does not show in running or strartup configuration any more. It disappeared. Is any one know what could be the reason.

which IOS version are you running ?

Can you post the output of the ´show version´ command ?
