I am trying to setup snmp monitoring for a metro ethernet solution. I would like to know if a trap is sent from catalyst switches when a certain threshold is being reached for VLAN & Mac Address capacity.
For example, does the switch send a trap when the mac-address table has reached a percentage of its maximum size or when the number of vlans has reached also a percentage of its maximum capacity?

Yes, that is possible. As for the exact MIB required, well, you will need to find that out from the list of MIBS at http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/netmgmt/cmtk/mibs.shtml
