UDP_SOCKOVFL:UDP socket overflow from Source IP: X.X.X.X, Destination port: 161

The network management station generating this error. Can not exclude this ip it monitors 748 nodes with 26000 interfaces. tried to adjust the polling intervals and response times with no success, when there is another snmp based device on the network the errors are mor frequent.

There are one of two reasons..

1. May be a bug in your IOS, for eg refer to "CSCdt86655".

2. This error occurs due to when the buffer allocated for incoming packets on the UDP destination port, in your case 161, is full because the rate of traffic destined for that port is high. This is not harmful. But please find the source device whether it is legitimate or not.
