Hello friends,
I am trying to configure SNMPv3 on cisco routers/switches to communicate with Zabbix, and i am getting "unknown EngineId error", Some people are talking about configuring Remote user, and remote EngineId. The question is : Do i have to configure a remote user on the router itself or on the equipement sending the SNMPv3 Requests ?
If someone could explain this remote User Concept in SNMPv3 i will appreciate it a lot
Thanks in advance

How is your configuration looks like on the device you polling from Zabixx ?
You may need to add EngineID to work : Example :
snmp-server engineID local 11110000000000000000000
Refer below configuration guide :

From what i have read, EngineID is discovered automatically via the NMS, why it is not the case in my configuration ? is it because the router is behind NAT maybe?

By adding EngineID and polling not harm for trying here.
is it because the router is behind NAT maybe?
this is new information you added here comparing with orginal post - If the router is behind NAT - you may be doing NAT Translation right ?

The NAT configuration is correcte, the router is already being managed via SSH with this configuration, i am only seeing the error "unknown EngineID"

understand that NAT working ...For testing add engine ID and testing is moving forward.

Try this way
Show snmp engine id

Use it with snmp server engine id remote
