Hi all,
i'm going to test spanning tree between cat 4908 and HP 4104.
the STP works fine, but when i disconnect the cable from the forwarding interface, the stp recalculation require about 45 sec :-(
It seems that the 4908 doesn't support the UPLINK FAST... it's correct??
Any suggestion will be appreciate
Marco

Hi,
I'm not familiar with 4908, but if you are able to configure UplinkFast on it, it should support this feature.
But you need a topology which is able to exploit it.
Read http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/473/51.pdf for details.
I understand you have two lines between that two switches. Is any other switch involved?
If not, who is the STP root?
The HP switch should be the root for UplinkFast to work in
Cat===HP
topology.

Milan

Hi Milan,
thanks for your reply.
I'm not able to activate uplinkfast on 4908, but i don't know if it's a IOS problem or it's not a feature of this switch.
I haven't found this info on the web site.
The root bridge is the catalyst, is incorrect??
Thanks Marco

Hi Marco,
Are you using 4908G-L3?
If yes, I don't beleive it supports UplinkFast.
You can't use UplinkFast on a root switch.
It has all STP ports forwarding.
You need a blocked port for UplinkFast to work.
See the link I've sent you in the previous message.

Milan
