STP Question

We are in the process of testing our new network infrastructure which consists of a 6509 Catalyst enterprise switch and numerous Catalyst 3500 series workgroup switches.

Since the 6509 is the hub, is it possible to make this the root bridge or do the switches elect a root bridge based purely upon priority and MAC address ?

any help appreciated.

i believe the commands are -

set spantree root (as primary)

set spantree root secondary (as secondary)

[mvanduyn]

set spantree root (vlan)

set spantree priority 1 (vlan)
