Switch not recognized in stack

I have created a stack with 5 switches. The problem that I am having is only four switches are being recognized. Stackwise cables look correct. So I checked the IOS on the problem switch and even put another basic config on it. when i use: sh ip int brief the switch does not show. So I unplugged the switch from the stackwise cable while logged onto master. It showed that switch 2 was disconnected and after I added back to the stack via stackwise cable it showed that that the switch had been added to the stack. However, it never showed up when i executed the sh ip int brief.

The LED on the front of the switch show just the top two as green. Generally that shows up when there is only one switch not configured. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you see any logs when you insert this switch into the stack? It could be that it is being put in a version mismatched state and the master is not able to automatically upgrade it to the correct IOS. Issue the 'show switch' command and paste the output here.

Here is the sh log followed by sh ip int brie. you will notice that it recognizes the switch when i plugSite-179-3750-11#sh log

Your logs indicate that the new switch has been put in version mismatch state. The switch will not be recognized as a legitimate stack member if it is in version mismatch state. Usually the logs tell you how to upgrade the IOS on that switch so that you can upgrade it to the correct IOS of the stack. You should go through the document available at the following link as it will give you a better idea as to how to manage the 3750 switch stacks:

Hello !

I have the same problem: at 3750 stack new member switch has the newest version IOS and doesn't recognized by stack master.

How is it possible to upgrade the stack to the newest IOS version remotely (I have access to this stack only through the LAN)?

May be here some problems during the software upgrade ?
