Hello everyone

When I telnet from a router, using /source-interface ethernet 0 command, it opens the telnet session but ip address of serial interface is registered on remote router. Can anyone give input on this please?

Are you doing a PAT on the serial interface ? In this case, you can get the serial interface's IP in your remote router.

Normally, without NAT/PAT you will get the interface IP directly on the remote router.

Thanks

Hi Thanks for the reply.

I'm doing NAT on remote router and nothing at the serial interface of the router I'm telneting (Let's call this router the LOCAL router). On remote router, I allow only the ethernet range of the LOCAL router. When I do TELNET /SOURCE-INTERFACE E 0, SHOW IP NAT TRANSLATION on remote router shows the serial IP address of the LOCAL and not the ethernet address, When I do extended PING, however, ethernet address is shown on the translation.

Sounds like the source-interface command is not working, but can't be for sure without looking at the configs :)
