Transit ISP Setup

I am currently working on the micro level design of a transit ISP. This ISP will have Tier 1 connectivity for internet input and will be connected to several customer ISPs (regional ISP / Tier 3 ISP).

I am planning to configure eBGP for connecting to Customer ISPs as well as Tier 1 uplinks. Also iBGP will be configured within the AS.

I have applied for one Public As and a /21 Public IP Range.

I was wondering whether I will be able to use Private IP range inside my core network instead of Public IPs. My core contains 6509 X 2 and 7200 X 2.

What I mean by use of provate range means..I will be using I will be using private IPs on all configurations and will be using a Null0 route for my public range to advertise my IP range.

I am only providing transit services to ISPs.

I appreciate any suggestions / recomendations on this matter.

Thanks,

Noble

Hello,

AFAIK, this should not be a problem, as long as you use public IP addresses for your EBGP peering (that is because most, if not all, ISPs filter out private space RFC 1918 addresses). But whatever you use in your core for your IGP peering doesn´t matter.
