Hi , i have 3745 router with 122.12 ios. THis morning i tried to span fa0/1 port and i got following error " " interface fa0/1 does not support SPAN" . I then checked my running config and ip address from fa0/1 was missing. interface was up and up. I put the ip address back to fa0/1 . and tried to span again. I got the same error : " inerface fa0/1 does not support span. It took the ip address out from fa0/1 again. I don't know why it would take out ip address from fa0/1 when i try to span. Here is the command i typed
monitor session 1 source interface fa0/1
error: interface fa0/1 does not span:
now interface is up and up but i can not ping. I checked the ip address and it's correct.

In a 3745, SPAN is only supported on the etherswitch module interfaces(if you have one). SPAN is not supported on built in fasethernet interfaces(fa0/0 and fa0/1).
