Hello.
Just getting started with BGP. On a catalyst 3550, 12.9 EA1 IOS, OSPF is setup and running fine and I wiih to add BGP for ISP route sharing. When I enter "router bgp 65300" I receive the error "unknown routing protocol". Same error if EGP is attempted. Do I need to redistribute routes first or is there something I am overlooking? I tried removing all routing processes and starting from scratch, enabling BGP without OSPF or any other protocol running...same error.
Thanks,
Chad

I believe you have to upgrade to at least 12.1(11)EA1 version. Please take a look at the "Unsupported CLI Commands" for the two versions below (URL). Although BGP is supported in 12.1(11) and above, there are still some BGP commands that it does not support. But it might be better if you can upgrade to the latest version, 12.1(13).

Hope that helps.
