Upgrade of 5500 to 5.5(10a)

To upgrade to 5.5(10a), we replaced a Supervisor II engine in a Cat5500 with a Sup IIIG. As soon as we loaded the CATOS, a half dozen workstations suddenly experienced excessive delays when logging in and access certain files. Of the 20+ Cat5500s upgraded to this software, this switch is the only one to experience the problem. All configurations were checked against working switches as well as what was on the old supervisor engine and it matches up. We thought an older 10/100 Ethernet Module may have been causing issues but the problem existed even after we swapped that out. Any suggestions as to where I should go next?

Are the affected workstations on the same linecard/VLAN? Try to derive a common factor between these 20 affected workstations. Also are the switch ports clean? Check for any NIC compatiblity issues

They are split between three linecards and all are on the same VLAN. When used with a Sup II, all work fine with little or no delays. I'm unsure what you mean by the switch ports being clean but I didn't see any enormous differences except that two ports did have excessive broadcasts after we put the Sup III in. I did turn off MLS because we don't use it here and that didn't change anything. Since we're getting additional memory to further upgrade our equipment, I will put the Sup III back in soon to watch what happens. However, I'd rather not have an extreme amount of downtime for my most important customer. Please let me know if you need any further info and I'll post it for you.

When you changed Sup cards did make sure all your ports were set the same as the old Sup card . Duplex mismatches ????

Yes we did check that but when we attempt the change again shortly, we'll check it again. Thank you.
