Hi,

Your statements are contradictory!

First you say - "we are able to telnet the switch with network address as well as with interface address..."

And then you say - "now my question is that how can we telnet it with network address... "

Please correct...

Also explain clearly what exactly are you facing a problem with!

Regards,

AbhisheK

let me explain it in detail..

for eg, network address is 192.168.16.32 and vlan address is 192.168.16.33

now i can telnet the switch with 192.168.16.32 as well as 192.168.16.33

how can i telnet with network address???

you cannot telnet to a network address. for example, i'm guessing you have 24 bit subnetMask which would make your network address: 192.168.16.0.

you cannot telnet to 192.168.16.0 BECAUSE it is a network address and not a host able to respond to a telnet request.

your detail still seems a little fuzzy though...didn't you say:

"network address is 192.168.16.32...."

"now i can telnet the switch with 192.168.16.32...."

and then say:

"how can i telnet with network address???"

It is true...

YOU CANNOT TELNET OR PING to a network address. You can ping or telnet to only alive hosts. So Network Addresses are never associated with a host or something...

I think 192.168.16.32 is not your network address.. Please calculate your network address again....

Pls Rate for all Posts...

With a subnet mask of 255.255.255.224 the address 192.168.16.32 is indeed a network address (assuming that the term network address is the same as subnet address).

And the other comments are quite correct that if you want to telnet to the router you must use the address of the router and not use the address of the subnet (or the address of the network).
