VMPS Question

I'm trying to configure a Vlan Dynamic Membership but I am not very clear on where do I have to store the database configuration file and wich commands to I have to use to make it work properly.

Can somebody help me?

Hi CSCO,

Database config file is stored on tftp server. Now this tftp server can be on an or somewhere behind your router.

This link will give you a clear picture how the topology will look like.

Now you need to have some high end switch like 5000 which will work as vmps server and tftp server which will connected to 5000 switch where you will store your database file and other switches will be working as vmps client which wil send the request to the VMPS server which will be 5000 switch and 5000 switch will already download the config file from the tftp server.

The 2 links which I have pasted above will also give you a very good ides how to configure VMPS server as well as VMPS client.

u need tftp server where u put vmps file reside in root directory of tftp server,1 switch that support vmps like 2980,swith belong 2 vmps domain(same as switch vtp domain).Define ip add of tftp server in vmps,set vmps state enable,set vtp mode.

Finally type below line in notepad and put in tftp root directory....

vmps domain xyz

vmps mode open

vmps fallback none

vmps no-domain-req deny

address 0009.23ac.3e12 vlan-name abc

last line show the database of user

Hi,

U need to install TFTP server at any windows machine,and define ip address of that pc in vmps server.if vmps server and pc are in differenet subnet then u need to define a default gateway also.
