VSS Support on Cisco 9400 Switches update!

Note the following restrictions:

CiscoStackWise Virtual is supported only on CiscoCatalyst9404R and CiscoCatalyst9407R switches.

• CiscoStackWise Virtualis supportedon CiscoCatalyst9400 SeriesSupervisor1 Module(C9400-SUP-1) and CiscoCatalyst9400 SeriesSupervisor1XL Module(C9400-SUP-1XL).

The featurerequires a special,additional license,C9400-SUP-UPG-LIC=license with CiscoCatalyst9400 SeriesSupervisor1 Module(C9400-SUP-1).

• StackWise VirtualLink (SVL)connectionsare establishedonly through10G or 40G uplinkports on thesupervisormodule.You cannotestablishan SVL usinga 10G port on one switchand a 40G port on theotherswitch.

•

CiscoStackWise Virtual can be configured only on one supervisor module per chassis.You can install two supervisormodules in each chassis used in the CiscoStackWise Virtualsolution.However, onlyone of the supervisormoduleswill be active;the othermodule will be powered off.

The supervisors must be inserted in the same slot for example slot 3 in both chassis.

The most important info is that a special license is needed to be able to use the feature.

i have the following 2 Cisco Catalyst 9400  Model. 

Cisco Catalyst 9410R

Sup: C9400-SUP-1XL 

As per documentation, CiscoStackWise Virtual is not support on cisco 9410R. Please clarify this. Thanks

The Cisco StackWise Virtual feature includes the following enhancements in this release:

• The feature is now supported on the following hardware:

  • Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series Supervisor 1XL 25G Module (C9400-SUP-1XL-Y)

  • Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series 10 Slot Chassis (C9410R)

Supervisor is NOT SUPPORTED (for now). 

Talk to your Cisco AM/SE and ask them for the "roadmap".  Maybe 1XL and 9410R will be supported in 16.12.1 or 17.1.1-Amsterdam.
